Services Were Held For Harry Mehrens In Denver, Colorado

Funeral services for Harry Elmer (Budd) Mehrens, former Avoca resident, were held Tuesday, February 1st, at the Holy Name Church in Denver, Colo. Interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Mr. Mehrens died at the Veterans hospital in Denver on January 29th after a lingering illness.

He was born at Botna on December 28, 1919, the son of the late Elmer Mehrens and Margaret Book Mehrens. He graduated from the Avoca high school in 1938 and was in the armed forces for 2 years.

He was married to Esther Koelle of Harlan on July 4, 1942. They were the parents of five children; Barbara, Mrs. Mike Padbury of Richmond, Virginia; Janet, Mrs. Steve Mueller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Joyce, Mary and Keith at home.

Surviving are his wife and five children, one grandchild, mother, Mrs. Margaret Mehrens of Denver and sister, Mrs. Earl Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
