Dale Friesen

Dale W. Friesen, 79, of Council Bluffs died Nov. 7 at Indian Hills Nursing Home.

Mr. Friesen was born in Rossville, Kan., and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1981 after working there for 35 years. He also was a farmer.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post No. 2 and served on the Catholic Charities board.

Mr. Friesen and his wife, Irene, were married 52 years, Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Mrs. Les (Pat) Hayes of Arvada,. Colo., Mrs. Lenny (Janice) DeHeer of Grand Island and Mrs. Tim (Marilyn) Sawyers of Council Bluffs; five sons, Michael, Jim and Paul, all of Council Bluffs, John of Omaha and Ken of Crescent; a brother, Robert, of Topeka, Kan; a sister, Maxine Lewis, of Topeka, Kan; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Edward Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Beem Belford Funeral Home.

Visitation with the family will follow the service.

Memorials may be given to the Micah House, St Patrick's Church and St. Albert School.


Dale's wife was Irene Kramer, daughter of Frank and Cecilia (Schechinger) Kramer.
