Orville Fisher

Orville "Sarge" Fisher, 57, 3556 Third Ave., died of heart failure Monday at his home.

Mr. Finisher retired, due to disability, from Iowa Power in October 1987 where he had worked for 27 years and was supervisor of laborers and janitors. He was a Korean war veteran and a member of American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2, a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of special deputies for Pottawattamie County for over 28 years.

He was also a member of the International Military Vehicles Collectors Club, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Amvets and a charter member of the Battle of Normandy Museum. He served in the Iowa National Guard for 32 years, He and his wife, Janice, were married 17 years.

Other survivors include two daughter, Debbie Wright and Deanna Fisher, both of Council Bluffs; mother, Linda Fisher of Sioux City; one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Leonard Kenkel of Des Moines and the Rev. Richard D. Hogan of First Christian Church will co-officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with a military grave side rite by American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2.


Orville is the husband of Janice Wingert, daughter of Isadore and Stella (Schnitz) Wingert.
