Gertrude Bollig

AVOCA -- Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude a. Bollig, 87, Avoca, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca, with the Rev. LaVern Wingert officiating and burial at Graceland Cemetery.

She died Monday at a Council Bluffs hospital, where she had been a patient for three days.

Born at Westphalia, she had spent most of her life in the Westphalia-Avoca area.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William I (Frances) Clark of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Joseph (Helen) McCarthy of Omaha; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vincent Book of Gray; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Mehrens of Denver. Colo, Mrs. Martina Petersen of Casey and Mrs. Elizabeth Swearingen of Denver, Colo.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. this Wednesday at the Berthusen-Knutson Funeral Home at Avoca.
