Life Story of Kate Elizabeth Blair

Kate Elizabeth Runyon, 72, was born April 7, 1880 in Leon, Iowa and passed away June 12, 1953 at the Atlantic Memorial Hospital, June 12, 1952. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Council Bluffs, Iowa. She lived there until reaching the age of 11 years when her family moved to Harlan, Iowa, where she lived most of her life.

July 4, 1895 she was united in marriage to Harry Blair of Harlan. To this union 3 children were born, Harold, Evelyn and Cecil Margarite, the later dying in infancy.

For the past 9 years she had made her home in Elk Horn with her daughter, Mrs. Marion Boose.

When a child she joined the Methodist church. For the past 13 years she had been an invalid and unable to attend church services in person. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1927, and her daughter, Cecil Margarite, both parents, one brother, Harry Book and a sister, Ruth Book.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son Harold, of Audubon and a daughter, Mrs. Marion Boose of Elk Horn, besides a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14 at the Marion Boose home in Elk Horn with Pastor C. E. Jensen of the Elk Horn Lutheran church officiating. Pauley Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Pallbearers were Leo Book, Paul Griffith, Raymond Book. Harry Sander, Melvin Boose and Alex Petersen. Burial was in the family burial plot in Harlan.
