1.  AEGIDIUS2 EGGERS  (HANS1) was born December 10, 1672, and died June 22, 1748.  He married ANNA MARGARETHA INGWARI October 21, 1704 in Schwabstedt, Schleswig, daughter of ARNOLD INGWARI and ANNA PONDT.

2.  HANS3 EGGERS (AEGIDIUS2, HANS1) died Bef. November 25, 1788.  He married CATHARINA ANDRESEN November 25, 1745 in Schwabstedt, Schleswig, daughter of PETER ANDRESEN and CATHARINA.

 3.  AREND SIEGFRIED4 EGGERS (HANS3, AEGIDIUS2, HANS1) was born Abt. 1754.  He married CHRISTINA DOCKWEILER November 25, 1788 in Schwabstedt, Schleswig, daughter of CHRISTIAN DOCKWEILER and ROSINA GLASER.  She was born October 04, 1767.

The 1803 Census for the small town of Schwabstedt, parish of Schwabstedt, County of Husum shows day laborer Arend Eggers, age 49 and his wife Christina Dockweiler and children, Peter, age 5, Hans, age 2, Christian, age 11 and Christina, age 1

4.  PETER ANDREAS5 EGGERS (AREND SIEGFRIED4, HANS3, AEGIDIUS2, HANS1) was born Abt. 1798 in Schwabstedt Parish, County of Husum, Schleswig.  He married (1) UNKNOWN Bef. 1828.    He married (2) ANNA MARIA KOLL December 07, 1828 in Schwabstedt, Schleswig, daughter of JOHANN KOLL and ANNA MOELLER.  She was born March 27, 1800 in Kropp Parish, County of Gottorp, Schleswig.

 Notes for PETER ANDREAS EGGERS:

The 1845 Census of the small town of Schwabstedt, parish of Schwabstedt, County of Husum lists the day laborer Peter Eggers, age 49, born in the parish of Schwabstedt, his will Anna Kollen, age 48, born in the parish of Kropp, County of Gottorp.  The following children, all born in the parish of Schwabstedt, are listed:  Christian, age 21, Johannes, age 6 and Peter, age 3.

 The 1835 Census for the same place lists the day laborer Peter Andresen Eggers*, age 39, wife Anna Maria Kollen, age 35, and children Christian Siegf. Eggers, age 11 and Wiebke Moeller, age 12.

 *certain records show his middle name as "Andreas" and others ahow it as "Andresen."

Notes for JOHANNES EGGERS:

Baptized in Schwabstedt 30 June 1839.  Godparents:  Hans Juergen Bade of Schwabstedt, Peter Kolden of Friedrichsneuland n. Kropp and Christina Heide of Schwabstedt.

 According to his "Claimant's Affidavit" in his Civil War pension file he lived in Schwabstedt until the spring of 1858, when he immigrated, arriving in the United States on 7 April 1858.

 Scott County marriage records show John Eggers married Amelia Stortenbecker on 21 December 1865, marriage performed by BL Peters, J.P., witness: Claus Mansfauld

 Notes for WILHELMINE AMALIA STOERTENBECKER:

There is a discrepency in her birth date.  According to her obituary in the Davenport, Iowa newspaper, she was born December 18, 1842.  In her Declaration For Widow's Pension filed March 30, 1904 and relating to her husband's Civil War service in the army (Cert. Number 277677) she stated she was age 73, born December 12, 1842 at "Bahnstadt Insel of Fehmarn Germany."  Records from the Kirchenbuech in Bannesdorf, Fehmarn, show she was born 12 November 1843 and baptized on 19 November 1843.

 Marriage Notes for JOHANNES EGGERS and WILHELMINE STOERTENBECKER:

Marriage certificate contained in John Eggers' Civil War pension file shows John Eggers and Amelia Stortenbecker were married in on 21 December 1865 by [BL] Peters, justice of the peace.

 CIVIL WAR NOTES:

 Johannes (or John) Eggers was a butcher by occupation.  On April 25, 1861 he enlisted for a period of 3 months in Co. I, First Iowa Volunteer Infantry (Capt. Wentz’s company) as a private.  The unit served in Missouri, seeing action at the Battle of Wilson’s Creek.  After the expiration of his enlistment, John Eggers joined Co. F, 2nd Missouri Light Artillery (Co. F was also known as Landgraeber’s Battery) and served with that unit until  October 14, 1864, when he was discharged at a field near Marietta, GA.
