CHARLES W. PINNEO.

In this materialistic age, an age in which almost every one seems imbued with but one idea, that of the rapid accumulation of wealth, it is refreshing occasionally to meet with one who has other ambitions, other thoughts and immeasurably higher motives in life. This can truthfully be said of Charles W. Pinneo. The greater part of his past life has been spent in educating the rising generation of his vicinity, He was and endeavoring to fit them for useful and successful careers. He was born December 25, 1839, in Princeton, and is the eldest son of Giles M. Pinneo. He received his primary education in the common schools of Princeton, and then took a two years course of study at Cornell College. At the age of sixteen he began teaching, and aside from four terms, taught near Albany, Illinois, he has taught much of the time in Prince ton and vicinity.

Charles W. Pinneo has witnessed the progress and development of Scott County from its earliest history to the present time, and there is no man living in Princeton Township who has done more to aid its development. He has been prominently identified with every movement that was of interest to the people and has been a liberal, charitable and useful citizen.

He married Miss Josephine E. Bell, of New England parentage, in 1868.
