Last Will and Testament of William Garnatz, 1909


I, William Garnatz, being in sound mind and body and mindful of the uncertainty of life, being desirous of disposing of my property with which I may be possessed, do make and publish this my last will & testament.

1st. After my decease my body is to be buried by the side of my wife in Grant City Cemetery, Sac County, Iowa, with as little expense and show as need be made.

2nd. I hereby give and bequeath to my Grand daughter Anna Garnatz, daughter of my son Wm. J. Garnatz, the sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) to be paid within six months after my decease.

3rd. After paying expenses of my sickness and burial and the above-mentioned sum to party named, all my property both real and personal to be divided share & share alike to my children: William J. Garnatz, Mrs. Lena Willart, wife of Ferdinand Willart of Auburn Iowa, and Mrs. Minnie Wollison, wife of Peter Wollison of Lake View, Iowa.

On this 28th day of February A.D., 1903 the foregoing instrument, consisting of one page was in our presence signed by William Garnatz and he at the same time declared the same to be his last will and testament and at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other we have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

AFFIDAVIT OF DECEASE.
State of Iowa, Sac County, Iowa

I, John Willert do solemnly swear that I was acquainted with William Garnatz during his lifetime, and that he departed this life at his home South West of Auburn, Sac County in the State of Iowa, on the 28th day of July, A.D. 1909.
