From student to teacher, Showalter returns to MACS
By Haylea England

This year, Mount Ayr High School has a few new teachers in the building. One of whom is Mr. Daniel Showalter.

Daniel is married to Jessica Showalter, and they live in Mount Ayr. Daniel grew up in Mount Ayr, being a 2009 graduate, and graduated from the Northwest Missouri State University.

This is his first year teaching in his hometown, but before Mount Ayr, Daniel taught two years at Mason Northwest Webster. There he taught government, American and world history, 8th grade history, history through film, and economics.

Through his teaching experience, he has found that his favorite thing about his job is getting to work with young people everyday. His advice to these young students is "to be the best version of you."

Mr. Showalter's most embarrassing moment happened while coaching at Manson Northwest Webster. During a track practice while he was walking, he turned to see a girl running at him. Both of them tried to dodge each other, but ended going in the same direction. The two of them collided, hitting heads.
