Class of 1947 held reunion here on Sunday
The class of 1947 held its 20-year reunion Aug. 13, at the Mount Ayr Country club with approximately 100 persons in attendance, which represented 27 members of the class and their families.
After a bountiful basket dinner was served at 1 p.m., a short business meeting was held. It was voted to hold the class' silver anniversary reunion on the second Sunday in August, 1972.
Letters were read from Mrs. Joe CULLEN (Ann GALLOWAY), ELkader; Lyle ROGERS, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. John DAILEY (Doris MATHANY), Bayard; Mrs. Marvin BUTLER (Carol Lou LAYTON), Lomita, Calif.; and, Mrs. Lester BARNES (Faye LANE), LaCygne, Kan.
Special guests were Mrs. Floy BLISS and Mr. and Mrs. R. E. HAUPTMANN, members of the faculty.
Members and their families who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur KIMBALL (Arlene MAIN), Bettendorf; Mr. and Mrs. Joe BENBOW (Marilyn McCLELLAND), Madrid; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn GARDNER (Alice Deane WAUGH), Shannon City; Mr. and Mrs. Duane KNIGHT, Osceola; Mr. and Mrs. Jim SHEIL, Univeristy City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Bill PRATT, Manasquan Park, N.J.

On Saturday evening, members of the class were invited to attend an open house in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerold WILLEY.
Acquaintanes were renewed and visiting was enjoyed, after which the hostess served punch, sandwiches, crackers and cake. Mr. and Mrs. Gary WEBB (Iris RINEHART), of Pueblo, Colo., who attended the open house, were unable to be present for the reunion on Sunday. - Secretary.

Mount Ayr Class of 1947 Reunion
The weekend of August 7 and 8 found the Class of 1947 gathering at the Mount Ayr Senior Citizens Center to celebrate their
67th anniversary. Saturday night after the blessing given by Peggy WAGENKNECHT, a delicious meal was served, catered
by Jan FORD. A memorial service was conducted by Peggy WAGENKNECHT and assisted by Olive DAVIS for the deceased members.
A short business meeting was then held followed by door prized being handed out. Those in attendance were
Dean (Jackie) GARDNER of South Salem, OH; Bob BRYANT of Louiston, ID; Alice WAUGH (Glen) GARDNER of Creston; Harold FROST
of Beaconsfield; Jim SHEIL of Saint Louis, MO; Bill (Avis) KIMBERLIN of Newton; Hazel RUCKMAN (Delbert) JACKSON of Grant
City, MO; Norma BAKER (Bill) WEBB of Tingley; Aileene HOUGHE DICKERSON of Lenox; and Gerold (Jean) WILLEY, Olive REYNOLDS
DAVIS, Peggy FOLTZ WAGENKNECHT, all of Mount Ayr. Guests included Edna JONES and Theola WEEDA of Mount Ayr, and
Michael, Tim and Bernie SHEIL of Saint Louis, MO. Ivan (Leola) DOLECHECK stopped in to visit. The evening was spent
taking pictures. Sunday they were joined by Dorothy MATHENY DAILEY and her daughter. After the blessing given by
Peggy WAGENKNECHT, a delicious meal was prepared and served by Peggy, Olive, Jeanie and Norma. An auction was held after
the meal and all departed for their homes saying they had a fun weekend and would meet again in 2012 on Memorial weekend.

Mount Ayr Class of 1947 Reunion
The class of 1947 celebrated their 65-year class reunion at the Mount Ayr Senior Activity Center on Saturday and Sunday,
May 26 and 27. Saturday they enjoyed a sack lunch they chose with a number they had drawn when they registered that was
prepared by Olive DAVIS and Peggy WAGENKNECHT. A moment of silence was held for those who they have lost. After
eating a sack lunch, everyone reminisced about old school days and memories they had. A business meeting was held led
by Peggy WAGENKNECHT. It was decided to meet again in 2014 on the Saturday of the Memorial weekend at the same place.
An auction was held, led by Bob BRYANT. Those who were able went to the Mount Ayr Health Care Center and Maple Ridge
and visited classmates Irene BOHN and Harold FROST and then attended the alumni banquet later. Those attending were
Gerold WILLEY and wife Jean; Olive (REYNOLDS) DAVIS; Peggy (FOLTZ) WAGENKNECHT; Norma (BAKER) WEBB and husband Bill of
Tingley; Bob BRYANT of Lewiston, ID; Doris (MATHENY) DAILEY of Bayard; Dean GARDNER of South Salem, OH; Jim SHEIL of
Saint Louis, MO; Aileene (HOGUE) DICKERSON of Lenox; guests Edna JONES and Theola WEEDA, both of Mount Ayr; Eric and
Larry GARDNER of South Salem, OH; Holly, Daniel and Jerry KNOBLE of Bayard; Marjorie PUTNEY of Des Moines; Annette and
Mike BURSTEIN of San Diego,CA, and Mary Lee FOLTZ of Creston. Sunday they had a meal prepared by Olive DAVIS, Peggy
WAGENKNECHT and Jean WILLEY. Those attending were Alice (WAUGH) and husband Glen GARDNER of Creston; Nancy KUNGE of
Nauvoo, IL; Bob BRYANT of Lewiston, ID; Peggy WAGENKNECHT, Olive DAVIS, Ivan DOLECHECK and wife Leola and Gerold and wife
Jean WILLEY of Mount Ayr; Aileene DICKERSON of Lenox; Marjorie PUTNEY of Des Moines; Jim SHEIL, Tim, Michael and Bernie

Class of 1949 Reunion
The class of 1947 met May 24 to celebrate their 67th anniversary at the Senior Center in Mount Ayr.
After the blessing led by Peggy Wagenknecht, they enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Jan Ford. A memorial was then
held with a candle being lit by Olive Davis for those we had lost since we last met. An auction was held after our
business meeting. Then there were sacks of gifts that were drawn by name for each one present. Pictures were taken
and a lot of visiting. Those present were Peggy Wagenknecht, Hazel Jackson (Gilbert), Grant City, MO, Bob Brigail of
Lewiston ID, Olive Davis, Mount Ayr, Gerald (Jeanie) Willy, Mount Ayr, Jim Sheil, St. Louis, MO, Ailiena Dickesen, Lenox, IA,
Darie Dailey, Bagard, IA, guests Edna Jones, May Putney, Des Moines, IA, Jerry Kobbe, Bagard, IA, Bernard, Tim, Michael
Sheil, St. Louis, Mo. Those joining us after lunch were Fran (Leola) Dolecheck, Mount Ayr, and Theola Weeda, Mount Ayr.

Class of 1947
The class of 1947 met May 24, 2015 at the Senior Activity Center for their 68th class reunion.The class sang a blessing before eating and
then enjoyed a bountiful delicious meal catered by Jan Ford. A moment of silence was then held to remember those they have lost. A game was played by the
women and all ended up with a gift at the end. An auction has then held which was enjoyed by all. Those present were Olive Reynolds Davis of Mount Ayr,
Peggy Foltz Wagenknecht of Mount Ayr, Aileene Hogue Dickerson of Lenox, Doris Matheny Dailey of Bayard, Hazel Ruckman Jackson and Delbert of Grant City,
Gerold Willey and Jean of Mount Ayr, Jim Sheil of St. Louis, MO., Bob Bryant of Loiston, Idaho. Guests were Marjorie Putney of Des Moines, Edna Jones of
Mount Ayr, Jerry Kobbee, Holly Belton of Bayard, Bernie, Tim and Michael Sheil of St. Louis, MO. Pictures were taken and much visiting was done. They departed
for the alumni banquet and agreed to meet again next year at the same time.

Class of 1947
The class of 1947 met at Rumors and ate at noon May 28, 2016.They went to the senior center and visited and had dessert. They celebrated Tim Sheil's birthday with birthday cake, brownies and cookies. Those present were Norma Webb, Michael Mooney, Tim Sheil of St. Louis, MO, Hazel Foltz of Des Moines, Jean and Gerold Willey, Olive Davis and Peggy Wagenknecht of Mount Ayr.
