Students compete in Academic Bowl
The fall Pride of Iowa Academic quiz bowl competition was held Thursday, Nov. 1 at Southwetern Community College in
Creston. Mount Ayr collided with Bedford in the opening round and was easily beaten in a disappointing 26-11 match.
The tables were turned again when the Mount Ayr team met up with East Union in the second round. They handed Mount Ayr
their double elimination loss with a final score of 11-15. Participants for the Mount Ayr squad included seniors
Jasper ABARR and Kylie WILSON, juniors Leah KLEJCH, Matt POORE, Naomi RICHARDS, Jacob SOBOTKA and Zach TIPTON, and
freshman Lincoln LUTRICK. Next competition will be the winter bowl in January.
