OBITUARY ~ CLAIR WOOLLUMS

Clair Fay WOOLLUMS was born December 8, 1908 on a farm north of Ellston, Iowa, to Fred and Ethel DADY WOOLLUMS. Clair passed away November 5, 1990 at the Ringold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and three days after a long illness.

Clair was a farmer and spent his entire life in Ringgold County. He was a member of the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church. His hobbies were pitching horseshoes, riding horses and taking vacations whenever possible. The highlight of the year was attending the Iowa State Fair as long as his health permitted.

On December 10, 1930, he was united in marriage to Zelma ROBERTS of Ellston, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Marvin Clair WOOLLUMS of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Arvid Lee WOOLLUMS of Ellston, Iowa, and Cheryl Beth HAINLINE of Van Wert, Iowa.

Clair was a very kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was happiest when his family was gathered around him.

Preceding him in death were his father, Fred WOOLLUMS in 1953 and his son-in-law, Terry HAINLINE in 1986.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his passing his 100-year-old mother, Ethel WOOLLUMS of the Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr; one sister, June SAVILLE and husband John of Des Moines, Iowa, one daughter-in-law, Freida WOOLLUMS of Mount Ayr; seven grandchildren, David WOOLLUMS and wife Sherry of Mount Ayr, Marla Kay CLUTTER and husband Lynn of Patterson, Iowa, Brian WOOLLUMS of Mount Ayr, Greg WOOLLUMS Of Mount Ayr, KellY WOOLLUMS of Arizona, Jodia HAINLINE and Kelli HAINLINE of Van Wert; two foster grandchildren, Viola KIMBALL and husband Stephen of Ft. Riley, Kansas and Deanna GROVES and husband John of Mount Ayr; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Becky and Jamie WOOLLUMS of Greenfield, Iowa, Angela CLUTTER of Patterson, Iowa and Jake WOOLLUMS of Mount Ayr; five foster grandchildren, Rachel, Alicia and Sean KIMBALL of Ft. Riley, Kansas and Nathan and Shaina GROVES of Mount Ayr.

Funeral services were held November 8, 1990, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Jerry AVISE-ROUSE. Music was provided by Mike GREENE, Mrs. Jim JONES and Mrs. Robert FISHER.

Casketbearers were Jim CLARK, Carl SAVILLE, [illegible] WOOLLUMS. Honorary pallbearers were Sam SICKLES, Jerald WALTER, Raymond DRAKE, Lee FLETCHALL, Claud RINEHART, Delbrt SEVIER and Loren DRAKE. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
