OBITUARY ~ PAUL D. WOOD
November 17, 1925~ March 11, 2012

DALLAS - Paul WOOD, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Dallas Retirement Village on Sunday afternoon [March 11, 2012].

Born [on November 17, 1925] to LBanks and Velma (BAILEY) WOOD in rural Diagonal, Iowa, Paul graduated from Clearfield High School in 1943 before joining the Army to serve his country in Korea and the Philippines during World War II. In 1955, Paul, his wife, Phyllis and three sons, Dan and Randy, moved to Dallas where he worked as a lathe operator for Willamette Industries. Later, Paul developed a successful excavating business. Paul enjoyed working in Mexico every year building houses for homelss (sic) families. He was active with Habitat for Humanity and the Yuma Community Food Bank. Paul will be remembered as a Traditional Midwesterner who always displayed honesty and enjoyed putting in a good days work.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters; Pat MICK of Waverly, Iowa, and Bonnie FISHER of Dallas.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, residing in Salem, and sons Dan (Pam) of Maple Falls, Washington, and Randy of Chicago, and his brother Mick (Ann) of Dallas.

Surviving grandsons include Rob (Kellie), Joseph, Justin (Nicole), Matthew and Griffin; granddaughter Kestrel (Jason) HUTCHISON; and great-granchildren Aric, Aleska, Gabby and Beckett.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Dallas. Donations and memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or Willamette Valley Hospice Services of Saleum in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center who is in charge of arrangements.
