OBITUARY ~ LYLE FREDERICK "FRED" WILSON
Lyle Fredrick WILSON was born on July 25, 1954 to John Randall and Vida LEONARD WILSON. He was one of nine children.
Fred attended school at Clearfield, just missing going to country school by one year. He graduated in 1972, then he went
to Iowa State University and graduated in 1976 with a degree in farm op. Fred then farmed in a corporation with his
brothers and operated a tiling machine. After marrying Lisa ROUND in 1983, they lived south of Lenox for four years. Fred
then started to farm with his father-in-law, Don ROUND, and continued to run his tiling machine. In 1988 they moved south
of Clearfield where they have since resided.
Bradley Lyle was welcomed to their family in 1984, Debra Diane in 1986,
Cacey Dawn in 1993 and Kylie Randelle in 1995.
During his lifetime Fred was a member of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire
Department, Land Improvement Contractors Association, the Taygold Cooperative board, the Clearfield Lions, the
pastor-parish committee of the Clearfield United Methodist Church, a Scout master, and was currently a member of the
Ringgold County Hospital board of trustees and the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.
Fred enjoyed playing cards,
especially Pepper and 500, cribbage, volleyball, pool and ping-pong, hunting, sport shooting, dancing, camping, and
playing with his grandchildren.
Fred could fix or build anything he wanted to and could also lay carpet.
him in death were his parents; father-in-law, Don ROUND; grandparents; a younger brother, Richard Lee; an aunt, Leveta
HALM, and a niece, Diana ELLIS.
Fred is survived by his wife, Lisa; son Dr. Bradley (Dr. Nicole) WILSON of West Des
Moines; daughters, Debra (Ben) JOHNS of Indianola and Cacey and Kylie WILSON of the home; grandchildren, Ethan and Kaitlyn
JOHNS and Reagan WILSON; sisters, Gayle Rhea (Marlyn) HAWLEY of Independence, MO and Louise (David) ELLIS of Fairfield,
IA; brothers, Doyle (Linda) WILSON of Boone, IA, John (Pat) WILSON and Wayne (Carolyn) WILSON of Clearfield, Haldean
(Cheryl) WILSON of Indianola and Jim (Donna) WILSON of Evansville, WI; mother-in-law, Maxine ROUND of Mount Ayr;
sister-in-law, Gina SHIFLETT of Savannah, MO; an uncle, Kenneth HALM of Thayer, IA; an aunt, Berneeta AUSTIN of Mount Ayr;
numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has
been established in his name to be decided later.
Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the
Funeral services were held at the United Baptist Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr on Sunday, August 5,
with the Rev. Al RUSK officiating. Songs played were "When I Get Where I'm Going," "I Won't Let Go" and "Temporary Home."
Casketbearers were Doyle WILSON, John WILSON, Haldean WILSON, Wayne WILSON, Jim WILSON and Doug HAWLEY.
Honorary pallbearers were Brad WILSON, Kylie WILSON, Debra JOHNS, Josh RUSK, Cacey WILSON, Joey RUSK, Anna RUSK, Ben JOHNS,
Marlyn HAWLEY, Dale SIMS, Pat MAY, Austin QUICK and Lincoln LUTRICK.
Burial was at Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield.
