Verna Whiting died in Washington

Mrs. Nellie COOK was notified April 25, of the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Verna WHITING, of Wenatchee, Wash., former resident of Ringgold county.

Mrs. WHITING was born Aug. 12, 1891 [Ringgold County, Iowa], to Julia Ann and Jesse GRUBB, and passed away April 24, 1967, at the age of 75 years, eight months and 24 days.

On March 15, 1911, she was united in marriage with Louis LONG and of this union were born three daughters - Cleo, Wanda and Lela, who preceded her mother in death [on May 7, 1961].

[Louis Mills LONG died November 20, 1927.] In 1929, she moved to Wetnatchee, Wash., and on March 25, 1934, she was married to Elbert Timonty "Bert" WHITING. They operated a hotel in Quincy and later moved to Electric City. Mr. WHITING died in 1955.

Two years ago she returned to Wenatchee to make her home. She was a member of the Central Christian church.

Surviving are two daughters, Cleo (Mrs. Vern LIDKE), of Yakima, Wash., and Wanda (Mrs. Wallace VOY), of Seattle, Wash., and their husbands; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Naomi MANZER of Electric City, and Mrs. Dorothy LEE, of Wenatchee; two stepsons, Bert WHITING, of Coulee Dam, Wash., and George WHITING, of Electric City; three sisters, Mattie CORNMAN and Lucy MOSER, of Wenatchee, and Mamie SMITH, of Bellflower, Calif, and nine grandchildren.

Mrs WHITING was a sister of the late Wm. A. COOK.

Funeral services were held April 27, from the Colonial Chapel of the Jones & Jones funeral home with the Rev. Delbert W. DANIELS officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Memorial park.
