OBITUARY ~ RAYMOND CARLYLE "RAY" "RADY" WHITE
Raymond Carlyle WHITE was born on January 19, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska. He died Friday, August 30, 2002 in the hospital in
Mount Ayr, Iowa after a short severe illness. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alva WHITE; an infant
brother Kenneth; and two sisters, Lois HOLT and Helen WEAVER. He is survived by Imogene, his loving wife of 49 years;
his two sons, Rodney and Jeff; three adored granddaughters, Brandy, Sandra and Amelia; his sister Elsie DRAPER of
Albany, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was commonly known by his family and friends as "Rady." He was
a second generation farmer on the family farm for many years. Along with his farming, he operated an auto body
shop which he operated up until his death. He loved automobiles, even the sport of stock car racing.
He will be
remembered by his family and those who knew him for his friendly wittiness and humor. He created good conversational fun
for those aroundhim. heenjoyed the friendship of his Amish friends, and one of his greatest pleasures in life was to travel
to Jamesport, Missouri to visit with some Amish residents living there.
It can be well said that he enjoyed the friendship
and comradeship of his family and friends.
"It was about 15 years ago that I became acquainted with Ray -- as I
knew his name. I recall our first meeting our first meeting as he was sitting beside a car, working out a dent or
something. At our first meeting I recognized something that I found in him in all of our later visits. He spoke with a
friendly smile! It was just his disposition to be friendly. And he was also a helpful person.
"On a few occasions I had
some little needs for my car and discussing them with him, went to extra lengths to seek to save my expenses in the repairs
that were needed. Ray carried a helpful concern to benefit others and I am sure that many times it was to the sacrifice
of his own profit or wages. With this little background that I knew of Ray, I belive that many of us who knew him can
accept what Imogene told me a few days ago. She said emphatically, 'Ray was a good man.'"
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 2, 2022 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount
Ayr with Reverend Duane LAUER officiating. Musicians were Jane THOMAS and Richard St. CLAIR. Casket bearers were Dan
QUICK, Bill QUICK, Jeff QUICK, Bruce QUICK, Ronche STILL and Sheldon COMER. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth QUICK,
