OBITUARY ~ ELIZABETH ANN (WATSON) WARIN
Elizabeth Ann (WATSON) WARIN was born on November 11, 1943 in Creston, IA. Ann, the third daughter to E. M.
and Alberta (MILLER) WATSON, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away August 1, 2012.
She was 68 years old.
Ann grew up in Diagonal, IA and graduated from Diagonal Community high school in
1962. She attended Creston Community College for two years and worked briefly in Des Moines at Allied Insurance.
She was united in marriage to William (Bill) M. WARIN, from Mount Ayr, IA on August 27, 1966, at Immaculate Conception
Church in Maloy. After Bill completed law school in Iowa City, the couple made their home in Mount Ayr, where Bill
partnered with his father at his law practice.
Bill and Ann were blessed with three daughters and, in 1981, moved
their family to Mesa, AZ.
Ann was the loving grandmother of six and attended many sporting events and concerts over
the years. She was known for always having a stocked candy drawer for the grand kids and enjoyed the family tradition
of decorating gingerbread houses at her home each Christmas. In the last several years she was a word search enthusiast
and a walking TV Guide.
Ann is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Brad BUTLER of Phoenix, AZ,
Amy and Scott HANEY of Mesa, AZ, Jennifer and TJ CASEY of Mesa, AZ, six grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law
Dixie and Jack TAYLOR of Diagonal, Kay and Larry PRATT of Sun Lakes, AZ as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law
Jay and Donna WATSON of Mount Ayr, Steve and Carolyn WATSON of Tempe, AZ and brother Mark WATSON and his friend Ken
HICKMAN of Beaverdale, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann loved her immediate and extended family dearly and, even
after being in Arizona for 31 years, maintained unbreakable ties to her people in Iowa.
Everyone who knew her will
remember how much Ann enjoyed visiting with and hosting the people in her life. She was a wonderful friend to all who
Preceding Ann in death was her husband Bill WARIN, her father, E.M. WATSON, and her mother Alberta (Bert)
Memorial donations may be made to the Mayo Foundation since her daughters are grateful to her amazing doctors
and nurses and feel they aided in providing them an additional two years with Ann.
Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in
Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral mass was held at St.Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ayr on
Monday, August 6, with Fr. Glen WILWERDING officiating.
Casketbearers were Brad BUTLER, Ben BUTLER, TJ CASEY, Mike
R. WARIN, Scott HANEY and Joe WARING.
She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
A memorial mass was to be
held at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ Thursday, August 9.
August 6 -- Sympathies go to the WARIN family. Joe's aunt and Mike's sister-in-law, Ann WARIN, passed away last week.
The wake service was Sunday evening and the funeral and burial Monday morning in Mount Ayr. Ann and her family have
lived in Mesa, AZ for about 30 years.
