OBITUARY ~ THOMAS L. "TOM" WARD

Funeral services for Thomas "Tom" L. WARD, age 63, were held June 18, 2004, in West Des Moines, Iowa. He was buried with military honors.

Tom was born July 3, 1940 in Wiota, Iowa and lived most of his life in West Des Moines. He was the seventh of eight children born to Ardis and Merle (CANNON) WARD. He grew up in the Mount Ayr, Iowa area where he graduated from high school in 1958. He served four years in the United States Air Force. On August 7, 1965, Tom married Ruth FIELDER and together they raised five wonderful daughters.

Tom worked as a salesman at Manatt's prior to his death and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association, Home Builder's Association of Greater Des Moines, State Home Builder's Association, Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick, Good Fellows Association and the Cummings Amerian Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert WARD and Dennis WARD; and brother-in-law Doyle TRULLINGER.

He is survived in life by his wife Ruth of West Des Moines; daughters, Angela MURPHY of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, Paula CHIZEK and husband Ray of Ankeny, Iowa, Brenda KEENAN and husband Troy of Overland Park, Kansas, Krista TANNER and husband Dean of Clive, Iowa and Kayla BADTRAM and husband Jason of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Logan and Connor MURPHY, Morganand Alexa BADTRAM, Ava TANNER, Joseph CHIZEK and the blessing of another grandchild due in January; sisters, Roxie TRULLINGER and Ruth MONAGHAN of Mount Ayr, Jessie WOOLLUMS and her husband Carl of Pharr, Texas; brothers, Bill WARD and wife Bonnie of Shenandoah and Jim WARD and wife Joyce of Maryville, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is best known for his passion to family, friends, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
