Paul Louis Vanderpluym was born August 9, 1920 near Diagonal, Iowa to Louis
and Elizabeth (McManus) Vanderpluym. He departed this life on January 29, 1995
at the Grater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa.
He spent his lifetime around the Diagonal community. He was a graduate of
Lenox High School.
On December 26, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Canny. Two
daughters, Willetta and Susan were born to this union.
Paul was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Maloy, Iowa.
Left to survive are his wife Mary of Diagonal; two daughters, Willetta
(husband Jim) George of Diagonal and Susan Kinney of Mount Ayr, Iowa; five
grandchildren, RaNa (husband Bob) Bailey, Pat George, Shawn (husband Marty)
Cameron, Colby Homes and Renante Kinney, five great-grandchildren, Ryan and
Chad Bailey, Levi, Taylor and Bailey Jo Cameron. Also four sisters; Veldeva
Morris Rees, Martena (husband Burl) Mobley, Lucille Johnson and Frances
(husband Ted) Bicker Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister and four
brothers-in-law, Lewis Morris, Bernard Rees, Melvin Johnson and Tom Canny.
In loving memory of Paul Louis Vanderpluym who was born August 9, 1920 and
died: January 29, 1995. Services were held at the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church at Maloy, Iowa on Wednesday, February 1, 1995 at 10:30 o'clock
a.m. Officiating was Fr. Greg Leach. Organist was Mrs. Claire Newton.
Casketbearers were Pat George, Wyatt Mobley, Brian Mobley, Greg Powell, Greg
Mobley and Danny Rinehart. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Davenport, Don
Burch, John Davenport, Cecil Smith, Roger Payne, Robert Schaefer, Wallace
Sobotka and George Bailey.
He was laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery Maloy, Iowa, Wilson-Watson Service.
