She passed away on June 5, 2017 from complications of diabetes and congestive heart failure at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA. As the oldest of eight children, she learned early on to help care for her younger sisters and brothers. She and her family lived in Wiota, Lorah, Bedford and Delphos, IA.

She was a great sports fan; especially of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Roxie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ruth Monaghan; her brothers Robert Ward, William Ward, Dennis Ward, Thomas Ward, and by her daughter-in-law Gail Trullinger.
