OBITUARY ~ ROSSIE TRIMBLE
Rossie Alberta SCHLAPIA was born August 28th 1894 on a farm in Rice Township, Ringgold County, Mount Ayr, Iowa. She
was one of seven children born to Charles W. and Attie GLEASON SCHLAPIA. She passed away on January 27, 1985 at the
Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Rossie was educated in the country schools of the county and later
moved into Mount Ayr with her parents. Rossie was a life-long Christian and church worker. She was a member of
First Baptist Church and attended regularly as long as her health permitted.
On March 4th, 1915 Rossie was married
to Charles Raymond TRIMBLE. To this union were born three children, Charles W., Mildred L. and Melvin E.
to cherish her memory are one brother, Leonard SCHLAPIA of Maryville, Missouri, the three children, Charles W. and
wife Audrey of West Des Moines, Mildred L. and husband Lyle NICHOLS of Mount Ayr, Melvin E. and wife Mary Jo of
Saratoga, California, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Owen, Floyd, Arthur, Emery and one sister Oma. Her husband
of sixty-six years, Charlie, passed away on December 22, 1981.
Rossie was a homemaker of the finest degree. She was
happiest when cooking, sewing, crocheting and taking care of her home. Along with her homemaking, Rossie had a keen
sense of humor. One of her recipes, recently found by her daughter, was for a Sponge Cake. The recipe read, borrow
all the ingredients and forget to return them.
Her life was always full, working, helping others whenever needed.
She delighted in her grandchildren and all their happenings.
Services were held January 29, 1985 at the First
Baptist Church, Mount Ayr, Iowa by the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home. Officiating were Rev. Paul CARTER and Rev. Fred
TRIMBLE. Music was provided by Nancy SACKETT, Edna JONES and Neva FISHER. Casketbearers were Gerald YOUNG, ANsel
SAVILLE, Loren DRAKE, RObert CHRISTNER, Harold BOWER and Gene LARSON. Honorary Pallbearers were Michael
TRIMBLE, Jack TRIMBLE, Charles H. TRIMBLE, Robert REESE, Frank LONGAY, Capt. Kurt NICHOLS and Lt. Christopher
NICHOLS. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.Thank You

thank everyone who remembred us at the time of the illness and death of our mother. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr.
MITCHELL, the Clearview Home and everyone for calls, cards, food, flowers, prayers, the Memorial Fund and
