OBITUARY ~ MARGARET LOUISE "PEG" (MOSIER) TORRIN

Margaret Louise "Peg" TORRIN, 65, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Denver, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Peg was born in Mount Ayr, Iowa, on February 20, 1947, the daughter of Eugene and Selma MOSIER. She graduated from Mount Ayr high school and from the University of Iowa in 1969 with a BA in home economics.

She taught middle school home economics in the Austin, Minnesota school system until 1982. It was also in 1982 that she was united in marriage to Darryl TORRIN at Saint Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota.

They moved to Gilmore City, Iowa to share in the ministry at First Lutheran Church. The couple moved to West Liberty, Iowa in 1988 and she returned to the University of Iowa, receiving her M.S. from the school of religion.

In 1996 the couple moved to rural Denver, Iowa. There she was commissioned as Associate in Ministry ELCA and served as visitation minister at Saint James Lutheran in Allison, Iowa. In 2008 she was called to serve as administrative assistant at Saint Luke Episcopal church in Cedar Falls, retiring in 2011.

Peg is survived by her husband, Darryl; one brother, Thomas (Linda) MOSIER of Raleigh, North Carolina; one sister, LuAnn (Dixie LEMME) MOSIER of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; an uncle, Frank (Diane) MOSIER of Alameda, California; a niece and nephews, and by longtime family friends, Cecil and Betty DAVENPORT of Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Inurnment will follow in the Saint John Maxfield Cemetery, rural Denver. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver.

Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver is in charge of arrangements, 319-984-5379.
