OBITUARY ~ HAZEL LILLIAN (REICHERT) TAYLOR

Hazel Lillian REICHERT was born on August 3, 1919 at Bluff Springs, Illinois. She was the daughter of Elmer and Cora OETGEN REICHERT. She passed away on November 21, 2012 at the age of 93 years.

Hazel attended local schools and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Bluff Springs where she was a member. Hazel married John O. TAYLOR on November 12, 1939. She joined the Presbyterian Churchat that time. Hazel and John had three children; Patricia, Neil and Steven.

While living in Illinois, Hazel was a 4-H leader and held offices in the church. She was also active in the Eastern Star at Macon, Illinois.

Hazel helped with the farming and livestock when needed. After moving to Iowa, she worked at the sale barns, helping in the offices. Hazel worked at Cradle to Crayons Child Care for 12 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Women's Society of Mount Ayr.

Hazel is survived by her three children Patricia (Waldron) SILTMAN of Hillsboro, Illinois, Neil TAYLOR of Stanberry, Missouri, and Steven (Cheryl) TAYLOR of Mount Ayr, Iowa; grandchildren, Debra RHODES, Jon SILTMAN, Pamela TAYLOR, Jason TAYLOR, Shelly WHITING, Jill WEEHLER and Jamie STEPHENS; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on January 10, 2000; five brothers; three sisters, and daughter-in-law Sharon TAYLOR.

A memorial fund has been established to the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at the Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on November 28, 2012 with Rev. Skip RUSHING officiating. Musicians were Nancy SACKETT and Debra LARSON.

Casket bearers were Randy RHODES, Jason TAYLOR, Neil WEEHLER, Wayne WHITING, Brad STEPHENS and Riley WEEHLER. Honorary pallbearers were Jon SILTMAN, Hugh TERWILLIGER, Charlie PICKERING, Charlie JEANES, Jim DENNEY and Bobby Ray JEANES.

Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa
