OBITUARY - PEARL LAVOUN (WATTS) ZINN, Eddyville, ILL.

Pearl Lavoun (WATTS) ZINN, oldest daughter of Harrietta Estella (BOYER) WATTS and Matt Dudley WATTS, was born March 2, 1908, at Kellerton, Iowa, in Ringgold County. She had been residing at the Pope County Care Center, Golconda, Ill., since October of 1997. She departed this life at the Hardin County Hospital, Rosiclare, Ill., on November 18, 2004, at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 16 days.

She attended Mount Ayr High School in Mount Ayr, Iowa, graduating in 1926. After graduation, she taught at Shady Grove School, Lotts Creek Township, a one room county school located in Ringgold County, Iowa. In 1927 she met Raymond Byron ZINN at a church activity at The Ringgold Evangelical Church, Ringgold, Iowa. From this meeting, a relationship developed and they were united in marriage on October 15, 1929, at Beaconsfield, Iowa. This union was blessed with a son, Gene Marvin ZINN of Simpson, Ill.

After their marriage, Pearl and Raymond were engaged in farming and owned and operated a farm in Riley Township, Ringgold County, Iowa, until 1967, when they moved to Bethany, Mo. Here they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 1993. They belonged to the First Baptist Church located in Bethany, Mo. Pearl was also a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 1995 and her two brothers, Max WATTS of Omaha, Neb., and Marion WATTS of Chariton, Iowa.

She leaves behind her sister, Gladys HARSH of Centerville, Iowa; her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Muriel ZINN of Simpson, Ill.; four grandchildren, Karl Gene ZINN of Fulton, Mo., Kurt Ray ZINN of Hoover, Ala., Sandra Lee (ZINN) BRANDT of Steedman, Mo., and Eric Marvin ZINN of Kefalari, Greece; six great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

The remains were cremated and a "Celebration of Life Services" will be held at the United Methodist Church, Glendale, Ill., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004. Burial will be at Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, Harrison County, Mo.

Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
