The Ringgold Record, 1883

OBITUARY.

DIED-At her residence in Mt. Ayr, on Wednesday evening, June 27, 1883, Mrs. Ann WOODS, wife of Mr. Joseph WOODS at the ripe age of 79 years, three months and eight days. Mrs. WOODS was born in the city of Worcester, England, in the year 1804 [March 19]. She was married to Mr. WOODS in the city of Worcester in the year 1827. She came to this country with her husband in 1853. She and her husband have lived happily together for the long period of 56 years and 6 months. She has been a resident of Ringgold county, Iowa, for 27 years, and was respected by all who formed her acquaintance. She ws a consistent member of the Presbyterian church for thirty years.

She has left, to mourn her loss, an aged husband and a large circle of friends and acquaintances, who do not sorrow for her as those who have no hope. She was a great sufferer for several years, but was never heard to complain In a converstaion the writer had with her a short time before she died, she expressed a strong hope of entering into that rest that remains for the people of God, and passed away in the full expectation of meeting the friends she left behind in that country where the inhabitants shall never say, "I am sick." Truly she has come to her grave like a shock of corn fully ripe - the memory of the just is blessed.

Her funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church and were conducted by the Rev. Mr. WOOD, assisted by the pastors of the United Presbyterian and Baptist churchs. COMMUNICATED.

NOTE: Joseph WOODS, husband of Ann, was born in 1808, and died November 2, 1891 with interment beside his wife at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
