OBITUARY - MRS. LAURA JANE WOOD

Laura Jane WHITE, daughter of Thomas and Rebecca WHITE, was born at Mount Pleasant, Iowa September 11, 1866, and passed away August 2, 1947 in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alta MYERS.

She came to Ringgold county with her parents when a small child. She was the eldest of thirteen children.

She was united in marriage November 8 1888, to John M. WOOD, and to this union ten children were born. Her husband and four children preceded her in death.

Mrs. WOOD united with the Bapist church when a young girl, and in later years became affiliated with the Advent Christian church. She was a devoted Christian, a kind mother and a faithful friend, always considerate of others.

Those left to mourn her death are two son, James and Silas WOOD of Mount Ayr, four daughters, Elva STRAIGHT, of Golden Colo., Lottie TEDROW, of Creston, Alta MYERS, of Mount Ayr, and Georga DANIELS, of Chloride, Ariz., grandchildren, twenty-two great grand children, six brothers, two sisters, besides other relatives and many friends.

And so the earthly life of another pioneer and devoted mother has come to "the end of a perfect day."

Ours is yet the battle and strife, Her's the victory and eternal peace. We continue to walk among the shadows, She has gone to that land where falls no night. We must tarry a little while longer, To her God has said, "It is enough."

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 5, at two o'clock, The Rev. Mary MOSIER. Six grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
