His father, John WION, was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, in 1809; his mother, Nancy WION, was born in Mason County, Virginia, in 1867. When the deceased was ten years old, he moved with his parents to Decatur County [Iowa], where he has since resided.

Answering his country's call, he served her faithfully during three years of the Civil War. July 14, 1867, he was united in marriage to Mary E[lizabeth]. LLOYD, daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth [(COATES)] LLOYD, of Decatur County, Iowa. To this union were born seven children: George J[acob (1868-1941)]., of Clifton, Colorado; Nancy T., who died in infancy; Jesse L., of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; Mrs. C. E. McLAUGHLIN, of Lamoni, Iowa; Mrs. (Clara C.) F[red]. W. CASH and Mrs. [Lou] A[llen]. S. ANDREW, of Kellerton, Iowa., and John F. (1888-1965), of Redding, Iowa.

For forty years he had been a consistent Christian and a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. His wife, six children, one brother, John WION, of Tuskeego, Iowa, numerous other relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn the departure of this honored and beloved man. The funeral, conducted by F. R. JOHNSTON, Pastor of the M.E. Church, of Decatur City, was held at Elk Chapel, at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 1919, after which the body was brought to the Decatur Cemetery for burial.

NOTE: Mary Elizabeth (LLOYD) WION died in 1929, Decatur County, Iowa. Jesse L. WION was born in 1880, and died in 1961. Jesse's wife Laura E. (PAYTON) WION was born in 1880, and died in 1961. They were interred at Elk Chapel Cemetery, Decatur County, Iowa.
