OBITUARY - BEULAH VIOLA (CHILCOTE) WILKINS
Beulah Viola WILKINS, daughter of Charles and Viola PERKINS CHILCOTE, was born March 25, 1904, in Wapello County,
Iowa, and died at the Ringgold County Hospital April 23, 1983 after a prolonged illness. She was 79.
She grew up in and was educated in Wapello County and was united in marriage to James WILKINS on June 6, 1923. To
this union were born two children, Beatrice Marguerite and Merlin James.
She was preceded in death by her two
brothers, Glen and Beryl; her daughter, Beatrice in 1971; by her husband, James in 1974; and by a step-son,
Charles in 1982.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Merlin and wife, Margaret, of Tingley; a step-son, Irvin and
wife, Vera, of Mount Ayr; and a step-daughter, Vera, of Salem, Iowa.
She also leaves eight grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was a gracious hostess, a good neighbor, a hard
worker and a spirituarl leader in the church.
The strong faith by which she lived prepared her for the transition
of physical death which she knew would deliver her safely into the arms of Jesus.
Funeral services were held in the First Christian Church of Tingley April 27 with the Rev. Weldon WHITNACK of
Marshalltown officiating, assisted by Rev. Dwight BONHAM of Tingley. Mildred SMITH played the organ and the
casketbearers were Dean MILLS, Leonard MASON, Loren WINEMILLER, Ward BONNETT, Harold WILKINS and Leonard WILKINS.
Burial was in the Tingley Cemetery.
I've dreamed many dreams that never came true
I've seen them vanish at dawn
But I've realized enough of my dreams
To make me want to dream on.I've prayed many prayers when no answer came
Though I waited paeient and long
But answers have come to enough of my prayers
To make me keep praying on
I've trusted many a friend that failed,
And left me to weep along,
But I've found enough of my friends true blue
To make me keep trusting on.I've sown many seed that fell by the way
For the birds to feed upon,
But I've held enough golden sheaves inmy hands
To make me keep sowing on.I've drained the cup of
disappointment and pain
And gone many ways without song,
But I've sipped enough nectar from the roses of life
To make me want to live on.
