OBITUARY - MARIAN LOIS (RAINS) WICK

Marian Lois WICK, daughter of George Marion RAINS and Nellie Jerusha Russell RAINS was born February 7, 1917 in Newcastle, Nebraska and passed from this life June 29, 2009 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa at 92 years of age.

Marian graduated from Beaconsfield (Iowa) High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Glen WICK on June 7, 1939 at Grant City, MO and two children blessed this union. They lived on a farm in Clarke County after their marriage. After Glen's death in 1984, Marian moved to Osceola.

Marian worked at Hydes Grocery, the original Hy-Vee [Grocery Store], in Beaconsfield in her early years. She worked at J.C. Penney in Osceola and was also employed by Snowdons doing folding and packing for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing and crocheting and belonged to card clubs in her apartment building.

Those relatives who preceded Marian in death were her parents; husband; sisters, Norma GRADY and husband Thomas, Verna HUFF and husband Ted, Margaret WEST and husband Melbourne; brothers, Leo RAINS and wife Lela, Clark RAINS; niece, Fama MOORE; and a grandson in infancy.

She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Jayson WICK of Ankeny; daughter, Donna MALIK of Osceola; grandchildren, Matthew (Shannon) WICK of Rolla, MO, Valerie (Tom) STEINHEGAN of Mesa, AZ, Christopher (Sarah) McCALL of Kalamazoo, MI; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made, in her name, to your favorite charity.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 10:30 A.M. at Murray Cemetery in Murray, Iowa.
