OBITUARY - VIOLA MAY (FLETCHER) WHITESIDE

Viola Mae WHITESIDE, 89, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, formerly of Chestnut, died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Chestnut with the Rev. Carol ANDRICKS officiating. Burial will be in McClimans Cemetery, Hallsville.

Mrs. WHITESIDE was a homemaker. She was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Chestnut to Clark and Rosetta (BAKER) FLETCHER. She married Charles Lauerence WHITESIDE in Havana on June 14, 1930.

Surviving are one daughter, Schawanda (and husband Donald) GRIMES of Mount Ayr, Iowa; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma BAHN of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of Chestnut United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to her church.
