OBITUARY - ELVA VERNITA (AUXIER) WHITE

Elva Vernita WHITE was born at Atlantic, Iowa, on September 2, 1904, the daughter of Arthur and Viola AUXIER.

In her young childhood the family moved to South Bend, Nebraska. She was reared in South Bend, and married her husband, John WHITE, there in March, 1920. They spent the early years of their marriage there on a farm, and moved to a farm south of Mount Ayr, Iowa, in 1951, After retirement they moved into Mount Ayr.

She was a nurse at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr from 1951 until her retirement in 1976. Following her retirement from the hospital duty, she continued in private duty nursing, helping many people in the area.

She passed to her rest November 27, 1989.

Elva was a very kind person, very well-adapted to her role in helping the ill.

There were five children born to her marriage union: Elsie DRAPER of Elmo, Missouri, Lois (deceased), Helen WEAVER of Burlington Junction, Missouri, Kenneth (deceased), and Ray WHITE of rural Mount Ayr.

Surviving are her three living children: 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-granchildren; two sisters; and a host of relatives and friends.

She remained a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist church until her death.

Funeral services were held November 29, 1989, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Duane LAUER. Music was provided by Mike GREENE, Mrs. Gary BICKERS and Mrs. Roger TRULLINGER.

Casketbearers were Kelly HOLT, Ryan JOHNSON, Dirk JOHNSON, Jeffrey WHITE, Denman JOHNSON, Sr., and Denman JOHNSON, Jr. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
