OBITUARY - MARGARET "MILDRED" (HAYDEN) WHITED

Mildred WHITED, 89, of Creston, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Greater Regional Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at Powers Funeral Home Jct. 34 & 25 in Creston. Reverend Richard CUMMINGS will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Powers Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Afton Care Center. Online condolences may be given under the obituary category at www.powersfh.com.

Margaret Mildred WHITED, daughter of Mary Annetta (SPEELMAN) HAYDEN Hayden and Willis Arthur HAYDEN was born August 15, 1920 in Knowlton, Iowa. She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1938. Mildred was united in marriage on July 26, 1939 to Lyle Elbert WHITED in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. They lived in Creston and Mildred was a cook for the Creston Schools from 1957 to the 1970ís. She was a member of the First Christian Church and former member of the Creston PTA.

Survivors include her son: Jack (wife Carol) of Afton; two daughters: Peggy (husband Floyd) WILLIAMSON of Hamilton, Mo.; Connie (husband Tim) ABELL of Clay Center, Neb.; one sister: Georgia (husband Kenneth) ANDREWS of Cheyenne, Wy.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle in 1984, son Marvin, and three sisters: Dorothy BLACK, Juanita SEVIER, Ethel IMLAY and three infant sisters and one infant brother.
