OBITUARY - RUTH LUCILLE (TERWILLIGER) WHEELOCK

Ruth Lucille WHEELOCK passed away on Friday, September 22, 1989, in the Iowa Methodist Medical Center at Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 86 years.

She was born on January 18, 1903 in Ringgold County, Iowa, the daughter of Anna and Mack TERWLLIGER. She graduated from a two-year term at Drake University and spent the next three years as a music teacher in Hartley, Iowa. This was the beginning of a lifelong love of music.

She was married to Lewis WHEELOCK on February 23, 1927, at Hartley, Iowa. He passed away on May 13, 1975. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Doyle, Warren and Dennis TERWILLIGER.

She is survived by two daughters: Cynthia HARPER of Pensacola, Florida, and Ruth BARTLETT of Tucson, Arizona; sons-in-law, Jack HARPER and Maurice BARTLETT; five grandchildren: Sheryl AMONI of Pensacola, Florida, Rae Anne RANDOLPH of Brandon, Mississippi, Rebecca EZZO and David and William BARTLETT of Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Maxine) SNEDEKER; six great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Ryan HARRISON of Pensacola, Florida, Meganand Jonathan RANDOLPH of Brandon, Mississippi, Sean BARTLETT and Michael EZZO of Tucson, Arizona; and a number of nieces and nephews

Ruth was a 50-year member of the Mount Ayr United Methodist church and an organist, choir member and soloist. She was a loving mother, never complaining, and always made the best of any circumstances. Her family will have many fond memories, and she will be sorely missed.

Funeral services were held September 26, 1989, from the United Methodist Church at Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Jerry AVISE-ROUSE. Music was provided by Mrs. Merrill PERRY and Mrs. Dan CUNNING.

Casketbearers were Dean FROST, Gregg CANNON, Lee TERWILLIGER, Rollin NOBLE, Donald SNEDEKER and Hugh TERWILLIGER. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
