OBITUARY - HATTIE CARRIE (SOTESSIGER) WERNER
Hattie (Mrs. James) WERNER of Tingley passed away Friday evening, December 24, 1982 at the Mt. Ayr Health Care Center.
Hattie Carrie STOESSINGER was born May 12, 1892 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. [Her] Parents were Charles and Carrie
ACKERMAN STOESSIGER. She had one sister, Sadie CARTER of Sioux City, deceased, and one brother, Fred, also of Sioux City,
who survives plus nieces and nephews in that area.
On March 12, 1913, she was united in marriage to James Wesley
WERNER near Arispe, Iowa. To this union were born Darrell (and wife Maxine) of Shannon City; Elton (and wife Marjorie) of
Tingley; Doris (Mrs. Dick GARLAND) of Des Moines; and Carol (Mrs. Dean BRYAN) of Huxley. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren,
27 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
They spent all of their 68 years together in Union and
Ringgold Counties except 2 years in California in 1945 and 46.
She was preceded in death by her husband James, August
26, 1981, and 2 grandchildren.
She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church in which she took part
faithfully as long as her health permitted. She devoted her life for the enrichment of her family, leaving her children
and grandchildren many happy memories and keepsakes that she spent hours making for their enjoyment.
Services were held on Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Tingley with Rev. Dewight BONHAM officiating. Burial
was in the Tingley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim WERNER, Steve WERNER, Anthony BRYAN, Dwight GARLAND, Richard GARLAND,
and Christopher BRYAN.
