OBITUARY - ANDREW "JAY" WELLING
Andrew Jay WELLING was born January 5, 1910, on a farm east of Creston, Iowa, to John F. and Mary Emaline
SIMMONS WELLING. He lived in the Creston and Afton area on farms.
On July 31, 1941, Jay married Edna Mae DAVIS
in Grant City, Mo. They had three children: Colleen Alice, Gretchen Mary and JoAnn Marie.
He was preceded in
death by his father andmother; his sisters, Edith, Addie and Edna; an infant brother, and his wife Edna.
Jay is survived by his daughters, Colleen WELLING, Gretchen LAUDNER and her husband, Pat, and JoAnn BRADY and
her husband, Michael; his grandchildren, Nikki and Steve TOMKINSON, Kelli and Trent LAUDNER and Bobbie BRADY.
Funeral services were held June 22, 1988,from the United Church of Diagonal, at Diagonal, Iowa, conducted by
Rev. Eydie STEPHENS. Music was proviced by Mrs. Claire NEWTON, Mrs. Richard TAYLOR and Mrs. Jack TAYLOR.
Casketbearers were Dan GOODALE, Jon GOODALE, Bill GOODALE, Claire NEWTON, Wayne PETERSON and Charles ZOLLMAN.
Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery at Creston, Iowa.

DIAGONAL - Jay WELLING, 78, of Diagonal died upon arrival at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr Sunday
morning, June 19, 1988.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Church of Diagonal. The Rev. Eydie
STEPHENS will officiate with burial in Graceland Cemetery, Creston. A family night will be held from 7:30 to
8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Diagonal. Memorials may be directed to the American
Mr. WELLING was born Jan. 5, 1910, in Creston to John and Mary (SIMMONS) WELLING. He married
Edna Mae DAVIS July 30, 1942, in Grant City, Mo. and she died in December 1965. He was a retired farmer and lived
in the Creston and Murray communities until moving to Diagonal in 1951.
Survivors include three daughters,
Colleen BARNARD and JoAnn (Mrs. Michael) BRADY of Des Moines and Gretchen (Mrs. Patrick) LAUDNER of
Holland, Mich.; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and a sister, Gladys CAREY of Spring City, Tenn.
