OBITUARY - GRACE (KELLER) WATTS, Diagonal
DIAGONAL - Grace WATTS, 95, of Diagonal died Sunday morning, Sept. 25, 1988, at the Clearview Nursing Home in
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Diagonal with Rev. Eydie STEPHENS officiating. Burial
will be in the Marshalltown Cemetery south of Diagonal. The Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Diagonal has charge
Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Diagonal or the Diagonal Lions Club Building.
Mrs. WATTS was born Feb. 12, 1893, near Diagonal to William and Sarah (PLACE) KELLER. She married
Roy WATTS April 1, 1911, in Diagonal and he died in 1966. She ws a housewife and a life-time resident of Ringgold
County. She was a member of the Diagonal United Methodist Church and the Friendly Neighbors Club.
Survivors include a son, Paul WATTS of Diagonal; two daughters, Wilma (Mrs. Anthony) BLANCHARD of Osceola and
Dorothy TEPLY of Mount Ayr; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother,
Herbert KELLER of Clarkston, Mich.

OBITUARY - MARTHA "GRACE" (KELLER) WATTS
Martha Grace (KELLER) WATTS, was born February 12, 1893, to William and Sarah (PLACE) KELLER at Goshen, Iowa. She
passed away at the age of 95 years, seven months and 13 days, at the Clearview Nursing Home, Mount Ayr, Iowa, where
she had made her home for the past four years.
On April 1, 1911, she was united in marriage with Roy WATTS. THeir
entire married life was spent farming around the Diagonal community. In 1960 they retired to Diagonal.
She was a
member of the United Methodist Church and also a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club. Her greatest enjoyment was
having her family around her, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She
enjoyed cooking and having big family dinners. At approximately age 83 she became an avid Diagonal basketball fan
and also loved to watch wrestling on T.V.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; a son, Verl; a son-in-law,
Adolph TEPLY; one great-grandson; her parents; and ten brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Wilma
and her husband, Anthony, of Osceola; a son, Paul and his wife, Roena, of Diagonal; a daughter, Dorothy of
Mount Ayr; a daughter-in-law, Velma, of Diagonal; and one brother, Hubert and his wife, Florence, of Clarkston,
Michigan. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She is also
survived by many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held September 27, 1988, from the
United Church of Diagonal at Diagonal, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Eydie STEPHENS. Music was provided by Mrs. Claire NEWTON,
Mrs. Jack TAYLOR and Mrs. Richard TAYLOR.
Casketbearers were John COOK, Alan OSHEL, Scott YOUNG, Bill GOODALE,
Claire NEWTON, Ray CLAYBAKER, Bill OVERHOLSER and Lawrence RYCHNOVSKY. Burial was in the Marshalltown Cemetery at
Benton (sic), Iowa.
