OBITUARY - MARY MABEL (LINK) WALTERS

Mary Mabel LINK WALTERS was born June 20, 1898 in Grant City, Mo., the daughter of Charles Preston LINK and Lottie Angline SUPRINGER LINK, and died Dec. 30, 1985, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

She was married to George Thomas WALTERS on June 24, 1919. He died April 21, 1967.

The family lived in Montgomery County for a time, then farmed in Clarke County for many years before moving to Blockton in 1942, where George and Mabel WALTERS were in the restuarant business for thirteen years. Mabel also worked s a nurse's aide in the infirmary of Mental Health Institute in Clarinda, Iowa, from 1957 to 1960.

Survivors include four sons: Wayne of Anoka, Minnesota, Dale of DeSoto, Iowa, John of Tacoma, Washington, and Keith of Blockton, Iowa; three daughters, June (Mrs. Eddie BRYAN) of Dedar Falls, Iowa, Maxine (Mrs. John HAMBLEN) of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jeane WALTERS of Blockton, Iowa; also eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Lela SMITH of Sandy, Oregon.

Preceding her in death was one brother, Earl LINK; and one granddaughter, Pamela WALTERS, Wayne's daughter, who died in infancy in 1951.

Services were held January 2, 1986, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Ed KAIL. Music was provided by Dean COBB and Charles COBB.

Casketbearers were Leonard SMITH, Cecil STEVENS, Eldon STROBURG, Richard MELVIN, Orville MELVIN and Donald STEWART. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Blockton, Iowa.
