ALICE WALTERS DIES - Ellston

Alice WALTERS, 77, of Ellston, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1987, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr.

She was born Dec. 1, 1909, in Blockton, the daughter of Frank and Mattie (CAMPBELL) ADAMS. On Aug. 29, 1929, she married Donald WALTERS in Osceola. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1973. To this union were born three children -- Bruce of Deer Park, Texas, Gayle OLSON of Des Moines, and Bernard of Chariton.
She joined the Methodist Church in 1924 which continued to be a very important part of her life until her death.

She was a lifetime resident of the Ellston area and had been a cook at both the Ellston and Tingley schools.

Mrs. WALTERS is survived by a daughter, Gayle and husband, Virgil OLSON of Des Moines; two sons, Bruce WALTERS of Deer Park, Texas, and Bernard WALTERS of Chariton; eight grandchildren, Cindy, Chris, Carol, Carrie, Jerry, Brian, Denise and Rick; seven great-grandsons, Curt, Wesley, Zachery, Chad, Brett, Jacob and Doug; one son-in-law, Virgil OLSON; two daughters-in-law, Martha and Jeanine; two sisters, Evelyn JACKSON of Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr and Faye GREEN of Ellston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister and three brothers, Earl, Lloyd and Paulfather.

Alice was a very loving and caring person who will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Funeral services were held Satday afternoon at the Ellston United Methodist Church in Lenox with the Rev. Jack KENDALL officiating. Casketbearers were Steve MOON, Jerry OLSON, Brian OLSON, Rick WALTERS, Christ WALTERS and Raymond ANDERSON. Burial was at the Ellston Cemetery with the Wilson-Watson Funeral home of Mount Ayr in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Ellston United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
