OBITUARY - ALLEN VanWINKLE

Allen Van WINKLE, 98, formerly of Wimbledon, died August 5 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown. Mr. Van WINKLE was born August 21, 1907, on a farm near Mount Ayr, IA, the son of John and Electa (SMITH) Van WINKLE. In 1909, the family moved to Uxbridge Township, south of Wimbledon. They moved a year later to a farm north of Wimbledon where they lived for six years. In 1916, they moved to a farm south of Courtenay known as the KELLOGG farm. In 1926, they bought land and erected farm buildings, and had lived near Wimbledon since with the exception of 1938-1946, when Mr. Van WINKLE owned and operated a business in Pillsbury ND.

He married Nina SWARTHOUT in 1942. Mrs. Van WINKLE died October 19, 2003.

Mr. Van WINKLE was a member of St. Johnís United Methodist Church, Wimbledon.

He is survived by a sister, Gladys PUTIKKA, Wadena MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three sisters, Grace PRICE, Mae KRACHT and Ora MORRIS; and two brothers, Henry and Clarence.

Services were held at St. Johnís Methodist Church. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
