OBITUARY - IRVING "DOYLE" TRULLINGER

Irving Doyle TRULLINGER, youngest son of Irving and Pearl (BROWN) TRULLINGER, was born June 16, 1925, on a farm east of Watterson, Ringgold county, Iowa. He passed away in his sleep at his home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on July 25, 2001.

Doyle lived all his life in Ringgold county other than four months when he lived in Oregon. He received his education in the Ringgold county school system, graduating from Delphos high school in 1945.

Doyle and Roxie Jean WARD were married on June 17, 1946, at Atchison, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Linda, Stephen, Ellen and John.

Doyle was a farmer most of his life and had farmed near Delphos as a young man and had then owned farms south of Mount Ayr until he retired. He served as Ringgold county supervisor for eight years. He thoroughly enjoyed his family. His greatest pleasures in life were watching sporting events, plays or musical productions or anything kids or grandchildren were involved in and just being at family events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making homemade ice cream and being with friends. He never knew a stranger.

Doyle was a member of First Christian Church of Mount Ayr where he had served as co-chair of the building committee and as a deacon until his health no longer allowed him to serve.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold and John; and sisters Izola TULL and Gladys BONJOUR.

Doyle is survived by his wife Roxie and children Linda KONNATH and husband Bill of Ankeny, Iowa, Stephen and wife Gail of Mount Ayr, Ellen BRAND and husband David of Audubon, Iowa and John and wife Cindy of Shenandoah, Iowa; grandchildren, Julie CRAWFORD and husband Chris of Rogers, Minnesota, Ted ZIMMERLY and wife April of Omaha, Nebraska, Karen MURPHY and husband Ryan of Eudora, Kansas, Jennifer BRAND of Overland Park, Kansas, Shelli and Scott BRAND of Audubon, Jared TRULLINGER of Fort Worth, TX, Mark and Kevin TRULLINGER of Mount Ayr, Ashley and David TRULLINGER of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Constance and Joey BELTRAN of Shenandoah, Steve KONNATH and wife Jane of Omaha, Nebraska, Scott KONNATH and wife Anne of Honolulu, Hawaii, Judy FISHER and husband Dennis of Aberdeen, New Jersey and Joan ALLISON and husband Mike of Alexandria, Virginia.

Great-grandchildren are Dalton CRAWFORD, Hailey, Erik, A.J. and Austin KONNATH, Kevin and Jessica FISHER and Craig ALLISON. Doyle is also survived by his sister Mona SOVEREIGN of Mount Ayr, brother Paul TRULLINGER of Redding, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the First Christian Church of Mount Ayr with Pastor John BRILLO and Reverend Gwen TRULLINGER conducting the services. Musicians were Mary TRULLINGER, Margaret BICKERS and Ginny EIGHMY. Casket bearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Elon "Shorty" SWANSON, Bob RICHARDSON, Bob GARDNERr, Gene HUNTSMAN, Cal HAMANN and Clarence WILSON.

Doyle was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
