On February 4, 191 0 Linnabell Virginia was born to John H. and Elsie OSHEL on a farm near Orient, Iowa in Adair county. She was the eldest of 11 children. At a young age she moved with her parents to a farm three miles north of Diagonal, Iowa. She attended schools in Adair county and the Willow Grove school north of Diagonal. In 1929 as a young woman she moved to Maxwell, Nebraska where she met her future husband William TRIDLE. They were married on February 15, 1933 in Grant City, Missouri while on a visit to her parents. They returned to Maxwell, Nebraska where Linnabell cooked on a ranch and at a restaurant. Their son William Jr. was born on January 16, 1939 in North Platte, Nebraska. In 1941 they purchased a farm near Benton, Iowa where they farmed for the next 40 years. They had four daughters, Virginia, Carolyn, Ruth and Betty.

Linnabell and Bill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983. In May of 1987 Bill passed away. Linnabell remained on the farm till January, 1996 when she moved to the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

She is survived by her son William Jr. and (wife Maxine) of Orient; daughters, Virginia CARSON (husband Jack) of Diagonal, Carolyn TRIDLE of Gladstone, Missouri, and Betty KOHRT (husband Kalin) of Spokane, Washington; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Fern MILLER of Creston, Dorothy INGRAHAM of Webster City, Alice SHANNON of Boone, Joyce ABBOTT of Creston and Norma BUTCHER of Des Moines; and one brother Clyde OSHEL of Murray.

Linnabell was a helpmate on the farm. She always had a large garden and was an excellent cook. Everyone loved her pies, cakes, breads and especially her homemade noodles. Whenever anyone visited there was always a cup of coffee and one of her wonderful breads or desserts. When her daughters Betty and Ruth came for a visit there was always their favorite raspberry pie.

Linnabell loved her cats. You could find her each morning and evening calling her kitties to come and eat.

She was always happy when a stray showed up at her door.
