Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
September 29, 1881

DIED.

At his late residence, Lotts Creek township, Monday, Oct. 26 [1881], N. B. [Naham B.] SWAN, of typhoid fever, in the 52nd year of his age.

He came to this county in 1855, and has been known during the time as an honorable, upright citizen, in high standing. It was hardly known that he was sick until the sad news came that he was no more. He leaves a wife and children, to whom sympathy is extended by a large circle of warm friends. He was buried on Tuesday in the cemetery adjoining town.

NOTE: Naham B. SWAN, the son of Isaac F. and was born in New Sharon, Maine, on May 12, 1829. He was married on July 12, 1860 in Ringgold County, Iowa, by Samuel WEEKS, minister of the Gospel, to Deborah Isabel "Belle" STRANAHAM. He was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. The three surviving children were Mary SWAN (1866-1910), George Edward "Eddy" SWAN (1870-1935), and Frank Baldwin SWAN (1870- ). A daughter, Lydia SWAN was born in 1862 and died in 1867, and son Frank was born and died in 1865, both interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
