OBITUARY ~ LYNN STANDISH STEWART

Lynn Standish STEWART of Des Moines passed away on August 2, 2012 at the Fountain West Health Center in Des Moines. Stan, as he preferred to be called, was born June 10, 1935 at Shannon City, IA. He was the youngest of eight children to Charles F. and Hazel Mary STEWART. Stan spent his adolescent years mostly at Shannon City but teen years in Creston attending Creston high school. After school, Stan moved to Des Moines and worked for a law brief office and then for the state of Iowa until retirement.

Having never married, Stan loved his dogs and considered them his children. The names of his most remembered were Muffin, PeeVee, Ozzy and Shadow.

Music was also a big part of his life and he enjoyed sharing his musical talents with his family. One of his favorite events to look forward to was the family reunions usually hosted by his sister Maude. The family always enjoyed teasing him that he was an enthusiastic but consistent late comer, but, none-theless, very much loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel STEWART; siblings Eva WERNER WILSON, Warren STEWART, Frank STEWART, Maude LANE, Bernice O'DELL, Raymond STEWART and Berle STEWART.

Left to mourn his passing are two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established for the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines, Iowa.

Arrangements were by Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.

Graveside services were held at Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7 with Rev. Eydie STEPHENS officiating. Grace WARIN sang "Amazing Grace."

Casketbearers were Doug RUBY, Ron RUBY, Layne RUBY, Jesse RUBY, Mike LANE and Denny QUAM. Honorary pallbearer was Pat ROUSE.

He was buried in Oakland Cemetery at Shannon City.
