OBITUARY ~ MURIEL IRENE STEPHENS
Muriel Irene STEPHENS, eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. STEPHENS [Lola Maud (SPENCER) and Lloyd Ernest STEPHENS],
was born September 1, 1917, and departed from this life on January 6  at the age of 16 years, four months and 23 days.
Her death was from an operation for appendicitis on December 24, 1933.
She was a member of the Delphos Baptist
church and was no happier than when participating in activities of her church. She was a member of the senior class at
Delphos high school and will be missed by all her classmates. She was a friend of all, a [illegible] and one of the
popular girls in the school, In life she was always cheerful and sacrificing. Even through her illness she carried
the same spririt that endeared her to all who knew her. Even though her life was brief yet lived beautifully she was
well dispostioned and beautiful. She will ever be a cherished girl.
Besides her parents she leaves one sister and
six brothers, Clarice, Spencer, Joe, Junior, Joe Ross, Earl and Lloyd, and also her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E.
SPENCER, and other sorrowing relatives.
Services were held at the Baptist Church in Delphos Friday [illegible]
conducted by Rev. [illegible] HOOKS, and interment at Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].
