OBITUARY ~ MELVIN STEPHENS

Melvin STEPHENS, son of Roy and Edna STEPHENS, passed away December 31, 1998 at home in Eldorado Springs, MO of natural causes.

Melvin was born in Delphos, IA, January 13, 1919. He married Ruth HUFFMAN, daughter of Harvey and Martha HUFFMAN, on October 14, 1939. He had three daughters: Judy VAUGHN of Buckingham, IA; Peggy BURNS of Eldorado Springs, MO; and was preceded in death by the youngest daughter Lynette STEPHENS.

Melvin was a hard worker and retired from Waterloo Community Schools in 1980. They moved to Fairfield Bay, AR in 1981, where they enjoyed life for 13 years. They then moved to Eldorado Springs, MO until he passed away, still enjoying life.

Melvin enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, bowling, his flower beds, wildlife and was an asset to the pigeons and various birds. He loved to spend time outdoors with his family.

Melvin was a loving, caring, dedicated husband, who loved his wife and his family very much. he was a wonderful, loving father who instilled hard work and good values in his children. He was a father who was always there for his children when they needed him. He was deeply loved and respected by his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to laugh and make people laugh. He will be greatly missed. He was baptised at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth STEPHENS; daughters, Judy VAUGHN and Peggy BURNS; sons-in-law, Gary VAUGHN and Jim BURNS; brother, Max STEPHENS of Clear lake, IA; sister, JoAnn RAGSDALE; brothr-in-law, Robert RAGSDALE; sisters-in-law, Louis (?) STEPHENS and Nita STEPHENS.

Marvin (sic) was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edna STEPHENS; brother, Kenny STEPHENS; daughter Lynette STEPHENS, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Martha HUFFMAN.

Melvin has five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one step-granson and three step-great-grandchildren.

Melvin was loved by all and will never be forgotten.
