OBITUARY ~ Howard C. STEPHENS

Howard C. STEPHENS was born at Dudenville, Missouri, November 17, 1907, to George and Mable ROBINSON STEPHENS, and died October 22, 1987, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and five days.

Most of his life was spent on farms around the Clearfield area where he was a farmer. In 1970 he moved into Clearfield and at the time of his death he lived at the Clearfield Manor apartments.

He was a member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church until its closing, at which time he transferred his membership to the Clearfield Christian church, whre he faithfully worshipped as long as his health permitted.

He was married February 24, 1934, to Vivian YOUNG, who preceded him in death in September, 1960. They were parents of three daughters, Ann WYER of Diagonal, Leona MATTIX and Cleona FLORA of St. Paul, Minn.

In 1970 he was married to Francis TAYLOR, who preceded him in death in 1984.

Surviving are his daughters; a son-in-law, Marvin WYER 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ilah STEPHENS of Clearfield.

Besides his wives, he has been preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Orr, and a sister, Nellie CROCKETT, and a great-granddaugher, Leanna MATTIX. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Funeral services were held October 26, 1987, from the First Chrstian Church at Clearfield, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Shirely LOCKARD. Music was provided by Mrs. Erwood HUFFMAN, Mrs. Richard SPURRIER and Mrs. Harold NELSON.

Casketbearers were Dale STEPHENS, Duane CROCKETT, Eugene CROCKETT, Larry STEPHENS, George CROCKETT and Darrell STEPHENS. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield, Iowa.
