OBITUARY ~ GEORGE A. STEPHENS

George Azariah STEPHENS was born April 30, 1879, to Stacey (sic, should be Stacy) C. and Rosa Belle STEPHENS and closed this life September 2, 1948, aged 69 years, four months and three days.

In young manhood he united with the Methodist church at Eureka.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mabel F., two sons, Howard C. of Clearfield, and Donald S. of Conway, one daughter, Mrs. Nellie M. CROCKETT, of DeKalb, Mo. He was preceded in death by a small son [Orr] in 1912.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nettie ROBERTS, of Kellerton, and Mrs. Ella RICHARDSON, of Benton, two brothers, T. J. and Clarene, of Benton, a number of cousins and a host of friends.

One sister passed away in 1940; his father in 1930, and his mother in 1931.

He will be sadly missed. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a friend to all who knew him.

Short funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, and regular services were held at two o'clock from the Methodist church in Clearfield, conducted by Rev. C. F. HOFFMAN, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Clearfield cemetery.
