OBITUARY ~ EVELYN (KNOX) STEPHENS

Mrs. Evelyn Knox Stephens, resident of Taylor County was born July 19, 1903 at Clearfield, Iowa. She passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning on February 12, 1967 at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 24 days.

She was the daughter of Howard and Mary Knox. After graduating from Clearfield High School she attended Iowa State University at Ames for two years. She was married to Wilson Stephens on January 30, 1927. Two children were born to this union.

Surviving are her husband, a daughter Enid and her husband Robert J. Huegel of Denver, Colorado; a son Ivan Stephens of Clearfield, his wife Shirley and two grandchildren, Shanda and Sherry; also one sister Miss Winifred Knox of Lenox. Her parents and two brothers have proceeded her in death.

She was a member of the Greenwood Church, transferring her membership to Clearfield Methodist Church when the Greenwood congregation disbanded.

She was an active member of Greenwood Ladies' Society and the Prairie Gem Club. For several years she served as a member of the Taylor County Family Living Committee. She was also an assistant 4-H Club Leader and Committee woman. She will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held February 15, 1967 at the Clearfield Methodist Church, Rev. Edward Tschetter officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Jane Whitmore, accompanied by Mrs. Viva Mahoney.
