OBITUARY ~ CLARENCE E. STEPHENS

Clarence E. STEPHENS, son of Stacy and Bell STEPHENS, was born April 25, 1901, at Delphos, Iowa, and passed away May 13, 1975, in the Ringgold county hospital at the age of 74 years.

Clarence was a lifelong resident of Ringgold County where he was engaged farming in Rice township throughout his life. He graduated from Delphos High School in 1919. On Aug. 27, 1924, he was united in marriage to Hazel LUCAS.

Clarence was a member of the Mount Ayr Assembly of God church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was a longtime member of the Delphos school board. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Jeffie, and three sisters, Nettie ROBERTS, Ella RICHARDSON and Anna DEIBERT.

Left to cherish his memory are his widow, Hazel; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sue STEPHENS, of Delphos; his daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie and Harold GRIFFITH of Hialeah, Fla. and Joy and David ROSLEIN of Decorah; five granddaughters, five grandsons, and a number of nieces and nephews, and host of friends.

Services were held Friday, May 16, from the Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Hilton GRISWOLD and Rev. Herman SMITH officiating. Casketbearers were Kenneth STEPHENS, Donald S. STEPHENS, Weldon, RICHARDSON, Arthur GILBERT, Grregory GRIFFITH and Geoffrey GRIFFITH. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
