OBITUARY ~ GOLDIE PEARL (SOUTH) STARK

Goldie Pearl (SOUTH) STARK, daughter of George and Ella Virginia (FRY) SOUTH, was born August 7, 1911 in Decatur county, Iowa near DeKalb, Iowa and passed from this life on August 17, 2012 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center in Mount Ayr, Iowa at the age of 101 years.

Goldie graduated from Van Wert high school and was united in marriage to Wilbert Neil STARK on December 30, 1936. She and Neil were blessed with four children, Elois, Marion, Carolyn and Darwin.

Goldie cooked for the Grand River school district for 16 years. She helped Neil mow cemeteries for 20 years before her retirement at age 85. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and socializing. In later years, she enjoyed visiting with friends at the Grand River Meal Site. In 1954 Goldie accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She attended a non-denominational church.

Those preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Neil in 2005; sisters, Grace TWOMLEY,Helen REED, Opal HOLMES and Edith PATTON; brothers, Paul, Carl and John SOUTH, as well as two infant brothers, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Elois CHANDLER of Victorville, California, Marion STARK and wife Donna of Kellerton, Iowa, Carolyn SPICER and husband Richard of Gentry, Missouri, and Darwin STARK and wife Ellen of King City, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Michael and Brenda STARK, Billy STARK, Denny STARK, Joey and Tammy STARK, Jacki STARK, Janie STARK, Craig and Holly SPICER, Chris and Lorna CHANDLER, Kelli and Bob CLYMER, and Jami and Joe LOVE; three step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia HALL of Decatur, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Lura SOUTH, Ellen PETERSON, Marty REASONER, Doris REDMAN, and Lois STARK; brother-in-law, Don BRINK, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 with Dean DYKSTRA, Anita FORSBERG and Greg WILLERT, all officiating.

Burial was in the Grand River Cemetery near Grand River, Iowa
